DevOps Engineer /
IT-Administrator  – Linux (m/f/d)

To move Karakun IT forward and keep up with current DevOps or infrastructure topics, we are looking for an experienced personality with extensive Linux know-how for our headquarter in Basel (Switzerland) or for our sites in Dortmund, Dresden or Stuttgart (Germany).

What you can expect

In this role, you are part of a skilled team that is responsible for the administration and support of our entire IT infrastructure with highly distributed employees. Your tasks include:

• User management (authorization, VoIP, email, …)
• Administration of virtual machines in the cloud (mainly running Ubuntu, managed with Terraform and Ansible)
• Operation and support of the software development / DevOps environment (CI server, Git, issue tracking, artifact and container registry, project VMs, Kubernetes, …)
• Administration of centralized services (firewall, DNS, VPN monitoring, backup, ERP, …)
• Operation of network and communication infrastructure (HW / SW)
• Procurement of hardware and software

Working in the infrastructure team also means having touchpoints to software development outside the operational day-to-day business such as:

• You will write scripts for automation (e.g., groovy and bash for our VM image backups).
• You should have knowledge in Java (for initial generation and upgrade of our Terraform configuration) as well as Python and PHP.

In the medium term, we plan many improvements such as Kubernetes cluster, expansion of our SSO also for cloud services, and even greater automation of user lifecycle management.

How to convince us

• You have deep knowledge of Linux
• You hold an university degree in computer science (or equivalent knowledge)
• You have enthusiasm for learning new technologies and systems
• You are working independently and you can quickly find your way around new and complex topics
• You have strong analytical and structured thinking skills
• You are a team player with highly developed communication skills in German and English

As a plus:

• You already gained experience in software development with Java and Javascript/Typescript
