About us

We are the brains behind Karakun. We currently employ around 50 people in Switzerland, Germany and India. Our consultants and trainers include internationally renowned conference speakers, Java Champions, JavaOne Rockstars and book authors.

Company culture

Karakun operates in a constantly changing, high-tech environment. Nevertheless, for us as a company, people – our employees, partners and customers – are at the center of everything we do. We regard ourselves as mutual problem solvers with certain values and principles, and we stand for honest, open, transparent and timely communication with all relevant actors. We apply flat hierarchies and communicate in a corresponding fashion.

Our working collaboration is characterized by mutual respect and appreciation. Diversity is not just a buzzword – we are convinced that we benefit personally and as a company from the widely diverse characters, knowledge and experience of our employees. We therefore actively promote the exchange of expertise and information. The result is a working atmosphere defined by honesty and openness.

Wir bei Karakun sind in allen Unternehmensbereichen ständig auf der Suche nach talentierten Menschen, die lieben was sie machen.

A further feature of all our employees is the high degree of personal responsibility. We do not forget, however, that work needs to be fun and must fit in with everyone’s respective life situation. That is why, for all our professionalism, we attach great importance to a working environment in which all our employees feel comfortable and in which their needs for work-life-balance are best met.

As a company we are very aware of our social responsibility, an awareness that starts with the simple things in life. We do not own a vehicle fleet and we use public transport for our business trips whenever possible. We also support the training and further education of IT experts through lectures at universities of applied sciences, the transfer of knowledge at conferences, after-work and other community events or through active participation in initiatives such as Girls’ Day or the Swiss National Future Day.

Why is Karakun the perfect partner for your IT problem?

Arbeitsplatz

Because we are committed to developing the best possible solution for our customers’ problems. Our solutions are sustainable and are met by making optimum use of existing financial and human resources. All our experts possess a high degree of maturity and professionalism thanks to longstanding project experience in various roles in different industries. We take responsibility – both within existing project teams and for ourselves – and regard ourselves as team players. Thanks to intensive activities within the developer community we not only have an enormous pool of methodical and functional knowledge, but also always keep pace with the times. Our customers also benefit, of course, as we apply and pass on this knowledge during projects.

Why is Karakun “the place to work”?

We are proud of all our employees. But we are also proud to have among us some internationally recognized experts from the world of Java. Oracle Groundbreaker, Java Champions, JavaOne Rockstars, speakers at international conferences – we not only benefit from their accumulated knowledge, we also play a decisive role in shaping the Java world through active community work and participation in countless open source projects.

Karakun employees actively develop innovative products and solutions for companies. In addition to a commensurate salary, they enjoy an excellent working environment with more than enough space for personal development and a great fun factor. We don’t place great store on being in the office at certain times. Thanks to annual working schedules and a home office option, Karakunies can organize their working hours largely at their own discretion, thus making the best possible use of the time available. Each employee has his or her own hardware and training budget, which is used to purchase work equipment and to expand their personal skill set.

At regular intervals we organize code camps and hackathons where new methods and technologies can be tried out in the team. A company-wide improvement workshop lasting several days rounds off the training program.
